After graduating Cornell University in 1975, Dr. Richard Hirschlag enrolled in the New Jersey Dental School of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Within a few days, he and Dr. Meade met and became friends. Upon completion of dental school in 1978, Dr. Hirschlag spent a year at the Brooklyn VA Hospital in a general practice residency. In 1982, he completed a residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Brooklyn-Cumberland Medical Center. Until 1986, Dr. Hirschlag limited his practice to oral surgery. At that time, he became partners in a general dental practice in Ridgefield, New Jersey. |
While expanding his practice to other disciplines in dentistry besides oral surgery, Dr. Hirschlag has always emphasized his surgical expertise which has allowed him to begin placing dental implants as early as 1984. This procedure has become an exciting part of our practice today. Dr. Hirschlag has been professionally associated with Dr. Meade since 1984, beginning on a part-time basis and developing into a full-time association today.
Over the past five years, Dr. Hirschlag and Dr. Meade have attended a unique continuing education program at the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Studies. This on going program has enhanced their ability to provide more comprehensive and exceptional dental care, including the diagnosis, care, and treatment of tempero-mandibular disorders (TMJ). Dr. Hirschlag is also a member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Bergen County Dental Society.
Dr. Hirschlag lives in Bergen County with his wife, Julia, an actress. They have a teenage daughter, Allison, of whom they are very proud.
