Lesion Removal and Biopsy in South Brunswick
Suspicious lesions (lumps, bumps or sores) found in the mouth should be removed and sent to a laboratory for a biopsy (microscopic evaluation). Although most mouth lesions are benign, some, even those appearing benign, may be malignant. As with any cancer, the earlier it is treated, the better the prognosis. At Doctors of Dental Medicine a thorough oral cancer screening is performed at every exam appointment. If a suspicious finding is discovered, our oral surgeon will remove it and send it for a biopsy to obtain a definitive diagnosis.
