Richard Hirschlag, DMD

A highly-skilled and experienced oral surgeon and general dentist, Dr. Richard Hirschlag became a partner in Doctors of Dental Medicine after attending the L.D. Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education with his long-time friend and dental school classmate, Dr. Harvey Meade. With a commitment to the Pankey Philosophy of dentistry Dr. Hirschlag's advanced training in rehabilitative and aesthetic dentistry extends the capabilities of the practice, bringing a unique level of care to its patients. In addition to his oral surgical abilities, he has over 25 years experience successfully placing and restoring dental implants.

Dr. Hirschlag obtained his degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. After a one year residency in general practice at the Brooklyn VA Hospital, he completed a three-year residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at Brooklyn-Cumberland Medical Center. As an alumnus of the L.D. Pankey Institute and a member of the American Academy of Dental Practice Administration, Dr. Hirschlag is ever in pursuit of professional growth and development. He is an active member of the American Dental Association, the New Jersey Dental Association, and the Bergen County Dental Association.

Married for over 25 years to actress Julia Barr, Dr. Hirschlag has one daughter who lives in NYC pursuing a career in theater. He and his wife are animal lovers (they have adopted a menagerie of rescued pets over the years). Dr. H is an avid musician and has recorded a CD with his wife and daughter, which benefits the Humane Society. (CDs are available in the office for a small contribution).
